Fans vs Dementia - Why I'm doing this .....AGAIN!!!! Bristol City to QPR
Phil Thomas
My Story
As many of you may or may not know, my father has cognitive impairments and suffers from dementia, and I lost my mother to the disease last year just before we did our walk.
Last season's walk was such a success, that Simon and I have chosen to challenge ourselves again this time around.
We are walking from the Atyeo Statue at Ashton Gate to Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers - a rough total of 130.7 miles.
This will take about 5 and a half days during the Easter Holidays next year the 7th - 12th April ( providing Sky don't change the kick off time or date!!)
We would love you to support us again by sponsoring us or should the desire grab you, walk a leg with us ( about 24 miles a day).
The route will take us along the Kennet and Avon Canal and then along the Grand Union Canal into London
During the course of 90 minutes, thirty people in the UK will have developed dementia.
Over 944,000 people in the UK are affected by the condition - and if someone you love is living with dementia, you're living with it too.
About Dementia UK
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
