Fans vs Dementia - Why we're doing this .....AGAIN!!!!
Team
Bristol City to QPR 7th - 12th April 2025
Team captain:
Phil Thomas
About
As you all know, last year we ( Simon and Phil) walked 53 miles from Ashton Gate to The Cardiff City Stadium to watch what was Nigel Pearson's last game as City manager but worth it as we raised £5,000 for Dementia UK.
This season, we have upped the ante a little and have selected to walk from Bristol to London for the Bristol City vs Queens Park Rangers. The direct route is 115 miles, but as we did not fancy walking along the M4, we are walking the entire length of the Kennet and Avon canal to Reading, across country to Slough to then pick up part of the Grand Union Canal, finishing off with a little bit of the Thames Path to get to Loftus Road. In total we are walking 130 miles and we are aiming to raise £10k for Dementia UK.
This disease has affected us both directly, as Phil's mum died from the illness days before our walk last year and his dad is still battling with it on daily basis, and Simon's family have lost loved ones also. It is a cause very close to our hearts and we'd love you to sponsor us.
Many thanks please try and help us reach our target.
